We continue to play these roles because they are familiar ways we learned to meet our needs; but these roles do not define us. Sometimes we are simply hiding behind them, concerned that others could not accept us for who we truly are. This incongruity contributes to isolation, depression, anxiety and ultimately unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance abuse or other self harming behavior.
Fear is what keeps us from taking steps towards greater authenticity. We are afraid to dance differently and upset the unhealthy choreography of our lives that we ourselves perpetuate. Change can be incredibly difficult, and we all need support to move through it. I can help you tap into your own inner resources, develop resilience, and help you live a more authentic life.
